The Night Agent season 3 has officially released its third season, which naturally means viewers are looking ahead to season 4. The Netflix action-thriller series created by Shawn Ryan first premiered on March 23, 2023, and immediately rocketed up to the streaming platform’s Top 10 TV shows. Within only a few days, The Night Agent became Netflix’s third most-watched debut series. Suffice it to say, this show is a pretty big deal.

Netflix was quick to renew The Night Agent for its first three seasons, but things are moving a bit more slowly for season 4. Still, creator Shawn Ryan seems to have no doubt that he will be working on more episodes soon. In a 2026 interview, Ryan revealed that a writers’ room for The Night Agent season 4 was established during the fourth quarter of 2025, despite the fact that this installment hasn’t been officially picked up yet. Additionally, he stated that multiple scripts are ready to go once the confirmation comes through. See Ryan’s full comment below:

“Season 4 is not officially picked up yet, but a while ago, in calendar year 2025, they did quietly pick up a writers room. We’ve been working for a while on the storyline. We have some scripts, we are breaking stories. I think you know from the tax credit, there’s a date by which you need to be filming by; there’s time for us at the moment.”

Another big sign of Ryan’s confidence that The Night Agent season 4 will come to be is the recent $31.6 million 40% tax credit the show claimed to film season 4 in Los Angeles. Filming locations have become a key feature of this series, with parts of season 2 shot in Istanbul, Turkey, and New York City. It appears the plan has always been for season 4 to bring Peter Sutherland to LA, but this tax credit comes with a deadline, so confirmation for The Night Agent season 4 will have to arrive by May 2026.

The Night Agent season 2 saw a drop in viewer completion rates, and Rotten Tomatoes reflects a significant dip in general audience approval. This likely has something to do with Netflix’s hesitancy to confirm season 4. The show’s third installment had already been confirmed, but it appears Netflix wants to ensure things are still on track following this most recent batch of episodes. So long as nothing too major has changed, then confirmation for The Night Agent season 4 is essentially guaranteed.

Ryan estimates that Netflix will give the greenlight within a few weeks or “up to a month” after The Night Agent season 3’s release. There are scripts ready to go when the moment comes, so Ryan should be able to get to work on production quickly. This suggests that The Night Agent season 4 will arrive in about a year, rather than the two-year gap placed between the show’s previous seasons. This is the primary benefit of getting a move on things before confirmation, though there is still a bit of a risk.

The Night Agent has featured a few overarching plotlines, but each season tends to revolve around a new international conspiracy and a fresh batch of characters. This makes it difficult to predict what might come next within Peter Sutherland’s story. Still, the events of season 3 suggest that Jacob Monroe’s cache of intelligence could come back into play as Isabel De Leon (Genesis Rodriguez) continues to dive into the nearly endless list of deep, dark secrets.

There’s hope that Luciane Buchanan’s Rose Larkin will make a return in The Night Agent season 4, potentially continuing the plotline revolving around the people-finder tech she developed ahead of season 2. There’s a very real possibility that such technology could be used for crime, which could mean some pretty bad things for Rose.

It’s also likely that the coming episodes will feature a new president, since The Night Agent season 3 saw Richard Hagan (Ward Horton) and his wife, Jenny (Jennifer Morrison), exposed for their dirty deals with Jacob Monroe. Richard pardoned himself before voluntarily leaving office, so his vice president will be ready to take over. Only time will tell what this new POTUS will mean for Peter Sutherland and Night action.

The Night Agent Season 4 Cast Details

At this point in the game, Gabriel Basso is about the only actor guaranteed to return, since Peter Sutherland continues to serve as The Night Agent‘s central protagonist. By design, this action thriller rolls over a new cast of characters with each installment, though there is hope for the return of familiar faces.

Louis Herthum’s Jacob Monroe was killed off in The Night Agent season 3, but since Isabel has his cache of secrets, this character’s past crimes could very easily be included in season 4. This means that Genesis Rodriguez could return for a primary or supporting role in The Night Agent season 4. Even Herthum could make an appearance, since flashbacks are common practice in this action thriller.

Ryan’s tease that season 4 will be filmed in LA is another potential sign of who could make a reappearance, since Rose Larkin moved back to California after the events of The Night Agent season 2. This would be a welcome shift from season 3, which was the first to leave out Buchanan’s character.

Aside from this, all bets are off regarding the cast of The Night Agent season 4. We can count on some exceptional performances regardless, and with those developed scripts, casting is sure to begin shortly after Netflix officially gives the greenlight.
