Crossplay between the PlayStation 5 and the PC gaming client Steam is a fantastic feature when it’s available, allowing you to connect with friends regardless of which platform they use. Of course, just because a game is offered on both consoles doesn’t necessarily mean it offers cross-platform play. Some offer only cross-save, while others offer nothing at all between platforms.
Luckily, crossplay has become increasingly common across many PS5 and Steam games, and the process is relatively simple. From competitive FPS games to the best co-op adventures, there’s no shortage of good options. Plus, things are always changing, so just because something didn’t offer cross-play at launch doesn’t mean it doesn’t now, which is why it’s always a good idea to check back every once in a while.
Although there’s no official way to filter cross-play games on either platform, several third-party websites and even curated lists on Steam make this information available if you don’t mind a bit of research.
Additionally, keep in mind that while these games offer cross-play, there may be some in-game restrictions. For example, Marvel Rivals may restrict PC and Console players from playingranked matches together, while Palworld has limitations on designated servers. So, while not everything may be available, there are modes that can be enjoyed cross-platform.
As of now, these are all the games on the PS5 that I’m aware of, that feature cross-play between the PS5 and Steam:
Keep in mind that as new titles appear on the PlayStation Store, it’s worth checking if they offer the feature. While there’s no way to check this within the PS Store details, many games that have crossplay will explicitly state so in their descriptions so that you and your friends know prior to purchasing.
This article deals with cross-play, not cross-save. Most games offer both, but that’s not always the case. For example, Disney Dreamlight Valley offered cross-play with PlayStation for a while, but cross-save only became possible recently. So do not use this list as a reference for which games offer cross-save between PS5 & PC.
Also, keep in mind that cross-buy is a separate concept. Not all games offer full cross-buy parity for all their games. For instance, purchasing something on one platform doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be able to use a DLC, item, or even a game license on another platform. Always look into each game’s individual guidelines.
If the information isn’t readily available in the game’s store description, you can check the official website for the game. If this fails, some games have dedicated Discord channels or Reddit pages where you can ask about crossplay (and any other questions related to the games).
Steam also has a page where you can check cross-platform compatibility between games on its platform and PlayStation consoles. It can be helpful to check whether a new game has been added to the list.
While Steam is the most popular PC gaming platform, it’s not the only option; many other platforms offer cross-play as well. This includes storefronts such as the Microsoft PC Store, GOG, Epic Games, and even designated sources like Square Enix. The following games are available on non-Steam platforms and can be played together on PC and PS5:

Like with the Steam cross-play titles, the list of PC games on other platforms that offer PS5 cross-play changes fairly frequently. As new multiplayer games are released, fans can check the games’ official websites to see whether they support cross-play. When this information isn’t available on the website, the next best place to check is the game’s Discord.
Cross-play is on by default on Steam, so there’s no need to enable any special settings on the platform. However, while inviting someone to play a game on the PS5 typically involves adding them as a friend, you can’t add a Steam user as a PS5 friend. Starting a PS5 cross-play game with a Steam user requires enabling cross-play on the console and occasionally sharing invite codes in-game.
To activate cross-play, a player needs to navigate to Profile Settings, then Privacy Settings. Scrolling to the bottom displays the option to “Get cross-play game invitations,” which should be set to “Allow.”
Keeping this option off will prevent players from connecting between the PS5 and PC. It will also prevent PS5 players from being matched with PC players in online multiplayer. Enabling the feature will allow players to interact with non-PS5 companions, including receiving and sending in-game invitations to play.
Inviting a specific friend to play between the PS5 and PC is almost always done from within the game itself. Most cross-play games, like Helldivers 2 and Call of Duty, have a way to add friends to in-game friend lists. If the game has no friend lists, it will typically use a special invite code, which involves creating a private room first and then sharing a generated code, such as in Phasmophobia.
There is another way to invite a specific person to a game: use the Xbox app. This may seem completely counterintuitive, but it’s the case specifically for Sea of Thieves. While the game was originally an Xbox and Microsoft Store exclusive, it was released on Steam in 2020 and PS5 in 2024. To invite a PC player to a PS5 session, or vice versa, players must first connect to the Xbox app.
Cross-play ultimately makes the gap between platforms narrower than ever before, providing a simple way to access a whole world of other players in any online game that supports it. Given the continued growth of the PC market, cross-play can make any online PS5 game better, and there’s significant value in playing with friends who don’t have PS5s.
Although the feature isn’t universal, PlayStation 5 owners can link up with Steam users for a seamless cross-play experience in a wide selection of games, which continues to grow.
