Warning: potential spoilers for Avengers: Doomsday.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga has left many loose ends and questions that will hopefully be addressed in Avengers: Doomsday, including the fate of Westview after WandaVision, which has now been accidentally revealed. The MCU’s Multiverse Saga branched out to TV, beginning with WandaVision, further expanding this already extensive connected universe.

WandaVision reunited the audience with Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) after the events of Avengers: Endgame, despite Vision’s death in Infinity War. WandaVision has many twists and big reveals, but it also left some loose ends and mysteries that the rest of the Multiverse Saga has failed to address and solve.

WandaVision introduced a new MCU setting: Westview, where an anomaly, later called “the Hex”, was located. Wanda was behind the Hex and the manipulation of Westview’s residents, and though the Hex was eventually destroyed, the fate of Westview was unclear… until now.

Ian McKellen May Have Spoiled Magneto Destroys New Jersey

Like with every other MCU movie, there’s a lot of secrecy around Avengers: Doomsday, which, in turn, has made way for several theories and rumors. It’s well-known that the cast of any MCU movie is instructed to be very careful with what they say in interviews so they won’t spoil anything, but there have been some innocent slips from time to time.

The latest to seemingly do so is Ian McKellen, who is reprising his role as Magneto in Avengers: Doomsday, and already appeared in one of the first teasers for the movie. Speaking to Jake Hamilton on Jake’s Takes, McKellen seems to have spoiled a major moment from Avengers: Doomsday, casually revealing that Magneto destroyed New Jersey.

McKellen didn’t reveal more after that, quickly realizing he might have said too much already. Of course, details around the possible destruction of New Jersey in Avengers: Doomsday are unknown, but this might reveal what happened to Westview after WandaVision.

WandaVision’s Westview Is Located In New Jersey

Westview was introduced in WandaVision, where it was revealed that it’s located in New Jersey. It was also revealed in the show that Vision bought a plot of land in Westview so he and Wanda could build a house and live there. After Vision’s death, Wanda, unable to cope with her grief, visited the spot and released chaos magic, unintentionally creating the Hex.

After the Hex was destroyed, the residents of Westview did their best to go back to their normal lives, refusing to talk about the Hex and Wanda. If Magneto truly destroys New Jersey in Avengers: Doomsday (for whatever reason), then Westview will be destroyed too, giving a tragic ending to a town that has already gone through a lot.

Will Magneto And Wanda Meet In Avengers: Doomsday?

The cast of Avengers: Doomsday is packed, with current MCU superheroes, characters from Fox’s Marvel movies (like the X-Men), and returning characters like Chris Evans’ Captain America. At this point, anyone could return in Doomsday, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda.

Not only did Wanda die in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and her death was later confirmed, but Olsen hasn’t been announced as part of the cast, nor has her character been teased to return. However, a variant of Wanda could appear in Avengers: Doomsday, and she could meet Magneto and the rest.

Avengers: Doomsday will surely have a lot of twists and shocking moments, and even if what Ian McKellen said is true, details about the destruction of New Jersey are unknown, and at this point, anything can happen, and anyone can return.
